Restructure

it's a constant change.

last year, one major change that had happened to the center was the transfer from rcbc plaza to solaris one building. numerous reactions and questions were gathered from the employees, good and mostly not so good (as anticipated). i wonder why do most people in the office resist change and view it as a negative move. why not focus on the opportunity that it may bring. perhaps, there's this feeling of violiting their comfort zone.

this year, another big change will happen in the center particularly to accounts payable. the vp for expenditure, last week, rolled out the new structure of AP come april 12. i was as well surprised when i first heard it from edwin. it was a total reshuffle of staff members including the management team. and it was the vp's "great" idea. he was the mastermind! the reorganization will be like:

currently - AP has 3 clusters which is divided according to region: americas, european and asia pac. each cluster has many teams and each team handles a particular country. for example in americas, one team is handling sopus, others are brazil, canada and so on. then in a team (except for sopus and motiva), there are various tasks that are being performed - processing, payments and analysis.

on april 12 - the per region and per country idea will divert into per process strategy. AP will have four groups: 1. technical support (gsap, serp, blueprint, brainware), 2. projects, 3. processing, 4. payments and controls. midshift will be eliminated and there will no more shifting of working time. it's either you will work on day or night shift. this is one way to cut the cost on taxi reimbursements as when you work on midshift you can claim your taxi expenses. here's the dilemma - as it's a complete reshuffle, we do not know yet who (managers) will handle each process and who (supervisors) will supervise each team. two things are for sure, retain or move.

but the transformation has a slight effect on my current team. the only adjustment is that we will no longer be reporting to AP manager, instead, we are now under a global manager's supervision who is based in glasgow. he is here now in manila, he came last week, to meet and observe the team and address our concerns. he will go back to scotland on friday.

as for me, this thing is interesting. implementing a great idea requires courage. management is confident that this will work.

i support.
