It took us several takes before we finally came up with a video message for Papa Cesar's 94th birthday. This will be shown on his celebration. We had fun while making the video clip. Kung makatawa eh hehe.. Enjoy watching!

Tanging yaman

sinamahan ko si mama kanina para bumili ng salamin sa mata. nawala kasi ung salamin nya ng binisita nila si lola sa himlayang pilipino. sakto naman na hindi ko pa nare-reimburse ang optical allowance namin sa opisina. kaya naghanap kami ng salamin (kasama ang lente) na magkakasya sa halagang tatlong libong piso. meron sya nagustuhan, halos ayaw nya ito bitawan. kaya lang ang presyo nito ay 6,700. meron 20% discount kaya 5,300 na lang. alam nya ang aming "budget" kaya nahihiya sya magsabi sa akin ng "la, gusto ko to." naghanap pa ng ibang salamin ang nag-aassist sa amin, meron naman na sakto lang sa budget pero sa reaksyon ng nanay ko hindi nya ito gusto at paulit-ulit nyang sinukat ang salamin na tig-6700. tinanong ko sya, "gusto mo yan ma?" ngumiti lang sya sa akin. sabi ko, "miss, eto na po kukunin namin." abot tenga ang ngiti ni mama. ang sarap sa pakiramdam makita ang mga ngiting iyon. alam ko naghihigpit kami ngayon ng sinturon ngunit makita ko lang na masaya si mama, sapat na iyon sa akin. kikitain ko naman ang sobra sa budget na 2,900 (kasama ang presyo ng lente). isang oras pa ang hihintayin namin bago makuha ang salamin kaya niyaya ko sya na magikot-ikot muna sa mall. pagkalabas namin ng optical shop, hinawakan nya ang kamay ko at sinabi, "anong gusto mo anak kainin, iti-treat kita." napangiti ako. alam ko na ang pera nya ay sapat lamang na pambili ng pagkain sa bahay. "hindi na, ma", ngumiti ako sabay akay sa kanya (hirap pa rin kasi sya maglakad)..mahal na mahal kita, ma! lahat para sayo..

naalala ko, noong isang linggo, pagkauwi ko galing sa trabaho (mga ala-una ng umaga), tinabihan ko si mama na natutulog at bumulong "ma, gusto ko ng champorado." naalimpungatan sya, ngumiti at mayroon sinabi. hindi ko masyado naintindihan, parang tungkol sa tsokolate para sa champorado. pagkatapos ay bumalik sya sa kanyang tulog at ako naman ay umakyat na sa aking kwarto..nang pagkauwi ko uli kinabukasan, meron ng nakahandang champorado sa aming hapag kainan :-) the best ka talaga, ma!

bago kami bumalik ng shop, bumili kami ng cake para kay kuya mac (kaarawan nya kasi noong biyernes, ngayon lang kami nakabili).

halos buong araw ay nasa kwarto lang ako. napansin siguro ni kuya ruel kaya pinuntahan ako at nagtanong "ok ka lang, la? kumain ka na?"..salamat kuya!!

mahal na mahal ko kayo!! wala man tayong sapat na yaman pero nagpapasalamat ako na kayo ang aking pamilya. kayo ang aking tanging yaman..

Paalam, Askal

sad. auntie texted me that askal already passed on last sunday due to tumor and peanut, yesterday, was crying beside askal. wala na syang kalaro, wala ng kaagaw sa pagkain.

i can feel auntie's sadness because askal is one of her babies. she treated askal as her own. she just saw askal on the street and seems like she's lost. auntie's compassionate heart took on, called her, opened the car's door and surprisingly, she went in. that is why lola named her, askal.

whenever we talk to auntie over skype, askal is always present and greet us with her cheerful american accent "arf arf". i was excited pa naman to meet her when i visit auntie in the US.

askal, thank you for the joy that you have brought to auntie. you will surely be missed..

june 30 was declared as philippine holiday due to the inauguration of noy-bi. for the carino's (i am in!) this is a perfect timing to celebrate papa cesar's 92nd (but according to him it was his 102nd hehe) and papa boyet's 58th birthday. though i have work at 3pm, i decided to visit pasig at lunch time kahit sandali lang. i would like to see papa cesar's shrewd endearing smile. before i meet mama (lina) in marikina, sumaglit ako ng loyola and bought flowers for papa boyet.

we love you, papa cesar! i will never tire of hearing your panahon ng hapon and familia tuazon stories. sabi nga ni tito ado, hindi pa tayo umaabot sa panahon ng amerikano hehe

and the highlight of this day (i guess so hehe), was my adobong baboy. while helping ria and tita nenet prepare the chop suey, tita bubut handed me the pork and i rinsed it. when ta bubut said "o, ikaw na bahala kung anong luto gagawin mo dyan ha. gusto mo adobo rin. tikman ko mamaya", i appear to have some sort of mental block out that i have totally forgotten how to cook adobo. nyaaah!! ma, help!! hindi ko alam mag-adobo ng baboy :-) i smiled..kaya ko 'to ahihi..toyo - check! suka - check! paminta - check! bawang - check! asukal..asukal?? kwatog was laughing at me "ha?, walang asukal ang adobo". yay!! i asked myself, "wala nga ba?" i know there is, un ung turo sa kin ni mama. anyway, i did not put sugar and just crossed my fingers and hoping that it will taste like adobo (nyehehe). oh my! it feels like ten years before it cook and it's almost 2pm. i texted my teammate and ask him to run the reports for me as i will not make it at 3pm. after an hour, at last! pwede na!! haha!! sabi ni kwatog paksiw daw, sabi naman ni ella tocino raw! hahaha!!! let's hear from the main judge, dra bubut carino..

Araw ng mga TATAY

ngayon, hindi lang ako, pati si cesar na ang bibisita.
excited na sila makilala at i-welcome ang pugi kong asawa :))

funny talaga 'tong pinsan ko! sige na nga, ang gandang bahay kubo naman ng tirahan mo (wehehe).

we plan to visit them next year. kuya milo promised me that he will take a leave, for at least a week, so that he and his family (syempre kasama si auntie) can tour us around california. ahhh..sweet..and wow! excited kami ni cesar. at ngayon pa lang, we dream of our holiday together with family in the US..ang golden gate bridge at lombard st ng san francisco, mga casino sa las vegas, (window) shopping sa beverly hills, hollywood!, disneyland!, universal studios, at marami pang iba..isa pang wow!! at higit sa lahat, makakasama namin ang pamilya kong matagal ko na ring hindi nakikita.

speaking of los angeles, congratulations lakers!! the whole family watched and supported your team in the last nba finals. galing!!

sabi nga ni cesar, if there is one thing that we have in common, that is traveling. tama :)) see you soon james and alhambra family!

june 27, the screening of kuya's short film in canada. wow! i feel so proud and wanna shout "kapatid ko yan!". thank you philippine arts for displaying the talent of the filipino artists in the different parts of the world.


kuya worked hard for this. i can attest. may god bless more the works of his hands.

Day five

due to excitement, i haven't gotten a chance to take a photo of my morning with papa. yesterday, our television broken-down. it saddened me when i saw the look on mama's face..while chatting with hubby, i called up mama to tell her the good news. mama and papa were super happy with cesar's gift (early father's day gift daw) it's a 26" lcd tv :)

my morning was overflowing with joy. the sparkle on papa's eyes couldn't hide his enjoyment, and in the past that same sparkle was on mine, when everytime papa take us along with him at duty free :)

before heading to montalban to visit my extended family, i bought a dozen of assorted doughnuts as pasalubong for mama lina, mama amy, nanay, zel, kiko, maricel and eya eya :)

midnight snack with kuya at kwentuhan habang nanonood ng music uplate. usapan tungkol sa trabaho, fifa world cup, mga kaibigan, DFA, camera, hanggang mapunta ang usapan tungkol sa akin at kay cesar.

"kamusta na si cesar?"
"malapit ko na matapos ung video nyo. meron pang gusto idagdag si coreen."
"punta kayo kila kuya milo. madali na lang siguro kumuha ng US visa. hinihintay nila kayo dun."

kuya ruel celebrated his birthday along with auntie tita and uncle manny in vegas. kuya thoughtfully grabbed me a city mug and auntie paid for it hehe. kuya uwi ka na!

maamo at maliit ang hugis ng kanyang mukha. hindi pangkaraniwan ang kulay ng kanyang mga mata, asul ang sa kaliwa at dilaw naman ang kabila. dumating siya sa amin noong nakaraang lunes at hanggang ngayon kasiyahan ang dulot niya sa aming pamilya. hindi na siya musmos ngunit sa kanyang pakikitungo sa amin tila napakatagal na naming magkakilala. dahil ang kulay nya ay puti, naisip ko agad ang pangalan na snowhite. ngunit mas gusto nya ang pangalang ibinansag ng aking tatay — tisay.

i am focused. by end of this year, i will be with hubby and will celebrate the holiday season together.

i am excited. this year's christmas is different. my first christmas as a wifey.

i am blessed. my family is extended. i don't only celebrate this special holiday with the alhambra's and the lozendo's but as well with the octa's and the carino's.

Second year

feb 28 2008 when tito cesar passed away.

along with mama, we went to montalban yesterday to remember tito's 2nd year death anniversary. mama met mama lina, zel, kiko, maricel, malaiya, ta amy, and ta alice. then we talked to cesar over ym.

to the carino's, to my future family, maraming salamat for the warm welcome. mama and myself truly enjoyed our time with you all. tito cesar, i'm grateful that i met you while you are still living. i've witnessed your courage when i visited you in the hospital. aalagaan ko pong mabuti ang inyong poging poging anak na si cesar :-)
